The sights, the sounds, the smells, the tastes of Hanoi are all truly mind blowing. It is an assault on the senses but a good one.
The traffic, wow the traffic, it is beyond belief we sit and just watch. It is organized chaos at its best. Scooters, scooters and more scooters, cars, bicycles, old ladies, old men and young kids all thrown into the mix..... Then there is us, somehow we manage to get across the road in one piece.
We have walked everywhere. The army museum, around our lake, to the Museum of literature and the Fine Arts Museum. Waited in a queue to see Uncle Ho, it is very easy to get around.
The organization for the mausoleum is a plan of sheer genius on a scale you would not believe. They close off several roads around the mausoleum, put up barricades and awning for 3 hours a day for 3 days a week whilst thousands upon thousands file thru Children as young as three all line up and file thru.
The kids are delightful, well behaved and friendly. They all smile and say hello....en masse.
As you walk around the city you see people playing shuttle cock in the parks and at night exercising or dancing by the lake..... All truly amazing.
The food is .... Wonderful, marvelous, delicious. From street food to fine dining. What can I say " bloody yum!"
Tonight we go to Sapa by train, another adventure.

ReplyDeletelove the food (looks like it tastes and smells great)
ReplyDeleteThe food also looks like people have taken an incredible amount of time to make it into a work of art- sculpting, presenting etc. Hope you're picking up some good tips! xxx
